Life in Uganda

Students, Aprons & Books

For the past eleven months, I’ve been teaching primary school for a family in Jinja. Each day the students can earn a bead as a reward for good behavior during school. A couple of times per month, those who have earned the most beads are invited over for dinner or for an afternoon at the Source Library. I enjoy the small group time with the girls, because it gives me the opportunity to get to know them better. Whether we spend time drinking sodas and looking at books in the library or cleaning up after a dinner at my home, I enjoy the relationship-building time we’ve had away from the classroom.
