Books for Basoga

Purpose
Books for Basoga exists for one reason: to empower children through literacy. Reading this website illustrates our point. Without literacy, we cannot operate a computer or understand a lunch menu.

History
Books for Basoga began with a small box of books in the Source Library in Jinja, Uganda. Candice Garner had come to Jinja looking for ways of integrating the resources of Americans and Ugandans. With no other lending library in the area, a dream was born.
Candice began to contact learning centers in the U.S. about donating books for the library. Soon U.S. classrooms and churches were collecting books to send to their new friends in Africa.

First I like to say, keep up the good work. Also, I like to get a booklist to send along with some M&M’s.
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your heart and strengthen you in every good deed and word” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.

    In Jesus love,
    Grace

    Grace,

One of the books you sent was checked out again this week, and it reminded me of your contribution. It looks like we’re not the only ones that appreciate the books!

Katy gave me your information, and I have enjoyed reading about your work. Do you still need books for your library? If so, please send me a book list. Thanks!
